Architectural Education Accreditation
Architecture accreditation is a quality assurance process that evaluates the academic architectural accomplishments and the minimum standard to obtain qualification of internationally qualified architects. It is administered under the procedure of international certification, with the aim of enhancing international exchanges with the architectural design service areas. The accreditation program develops the specializations of architectural education, establishes architecture as an academic discipline and architecture degree course, enhances the international competitiveness of the architecture industry, contributes to the improvement of the environment by raising awareness of the social responsibility of architecture, and builds a strong foundation to foster qualified architects through close cooperation between architectural academia and industries. In line with the aforementioned purposes, the architecture program is making all-out efforts to obtain the accreditation administered by the Korea Architectural Accrediting Board (KAAB). It was accepted as a candidate for accreditation in 2008 and plans to obtain the KAAP accreditation within the second half of 2010.
